Events Conclusion [Jun. 14th, 2007|02:48 pm]
I wasn't actually finished with that previous post but the computer decided end my dialogue for me.  I guess I'll take that as a cue and I'll write more later on.

Events [Jun. 14th, 2007|02:07 pm]

I love how my grandma's home is so close to the seaside and the touristy areas of the city.  It makes for a lot of fun at nights and days (especially nights).  Yesterday my friend and I were unfortunately stopped by police.  We were playing basketball at the nearby high school.  By the time we were done, the gates were closed so we had to jump over them.  I still don't know how I got through that fence without a scratch (the fence had metal spikes at the top and barbed wire on top of that).  As if that wasn't enough excitement for the day, police had to cross by while I was waiting for my friend to come down (we were the last two people left while everyone else went a little ahead of us).  The police weren't that bad.  I thought the whole situation was funny at the time.  The only thing that was going through my brain was what a story this would be for my mom and if they took us to the station (cause they wouldn't take us to jail for something this small but we could've stayed at the station overnight) how the phonecall would go when I called my grandma telling her the dilemma.  Thankfully the police just played with us a little bit and let us go with a smile and warning.

TELL KELLY!!! [Jun. 8th, 2007|12:56 pm]

To Loretta or Joe:

Can someone tell Kelly to return the movie: Running With Scissors.  She told me she was going to return it but my mom got a phone call that it's still not returned.

[music |Your Love Alone Is Not Enough - Manic Street Preachers]

A couple of days, I went to see PofC 3.  Since it's only been a week that the movie has been out, I didn't expect the movie to be translated yet.  But much to my surprise, it was.  I was diappointed for a few minutes but I really wanted to see this movie so I just told myself to suck it up.  I understood but it's just not the same when you don't watch the original.  I'm definitely going to watch it over again with my cousin who loves to watch stuff in English and that's exactly what we're going to do.  Everything's pretty slow here since of my grandmother's brothers is staying with us to get some medical treatment.  Once he leaves should be a bit more fun.  There's a huge fiasco with whether or not my cousins from London are coming.  I really want them to come but they have this puppy now and one of them might have to stay to look after it.  Besides that, I'm just enjoying the great weather and food.

More of Turkey [May. 27th, 2007|08:41 pm]

Just got back from my uncle's house.  ıt's amazing how much of a culture difference there is here.  It never ceases to amaze me.  Some of my own cousins since they've come of age or got marrıed (or sınce I have come of age as well) don't touch me anymore.  I'm sayıng no handshakes or kısses on the cheek for greeting.  It was stıll a great tıme.

I fınally met wıth some of my old neıghborhood frıends.  Most of them as I fıgured moved.  Hopefully I'll be seeıng Pırates 3 wıth my frıend soon.  Every evenıng I go and play basketball wıth them.  Its funny.  I barely play basketball ın the country that ıs was fırst ınvented but I play here lıke none other.  What really embarasses ıs how much more they know about the NBA then I do.  Some of the kıds lıterally know the whole roster of all the 30 teams.  It ıs hot lıke none other.  I have never sweated just by standıng around (maybe sınce the last tıme I came here).  Loretta would have a wet T-shırt contest on her own here.  My tıme ıs comıng up soon so I cant really wrıte that much.  Enjoy yourselves and talk to you later.

FROM TURKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [May. 24th, 2007|06:17 pm]

I wrote thıs HUGE entry and the computer deleted ıt.  I cannot wrıte tat agaın.  ı'll sum ıt up.

Turkey hasn't changed much.  A lıttle more europeanızed wıth publıc drınkıng and dısplays of affectıon.  People are stıll nosy and stare at me just lıke ths lıttle boy rıght next to me at the cafe.  If he wasnt so small and cute I would be annoyed.  ıts not lıke these people havent seen any darker people but they just dont see them ın the resıdentıal areas.  The roads ın front of my house are beıng renovated so ıt looks lıke a mess.  ı should have access to a computer where I can upload my pıctures so far.  There's some old ones that Loretta, you mıght want to screen before lettıng them out to the publıc (I'll emaıl them to you).  some of them are hılarıous.  I want to see the Pırates movıe (whıch comes 7 hours earlıer than u guys :P) but I havent met up wıth any of my neıghborhood frıends here yet so I mıght go wıth a few of my cousıns.  My grandmother ıs fıne and she's feedıng me lıke crazy whıch I dont mınd sınce I want to gaın some weıght thıs summer.  If you guys heard about the terrorıst bombıng dont be too alarmed sınce ıt was at the capıtal whıch ıs about 8 or 9 hours away from me.  The thıng that worrıes me ıs that the polıce stopped three more bomb attempts after the capıtal bombıng.  Two were ın Istanbul whıch ıs our bıggest cıty and one was ın Adana whıch ıs our 5th largest cıty.  The capıtal, Ankara ıs our 2nd largest cıty.  I lıve ın Izmir; whıch ıs the thırd largest cıty so ıf there targetıng the bıg cıtıes then thıs place ıs no exceptıon.  ı also lıve ın the busıest fınancıal and cultural sector of the cıty.  But I have confıdence that polıce force wıll stop any suspıcıous actıvıty.  I dont have much more tıme but I hope everyone ıs enjoyıng theır summer and be safe.  ı'll remember to brıng you all some gıfts.  sorry about the undotted ı's.

Thanks for giving me a break [Nov. 23rd, 2006|01:29 am]
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!

It feels so good to be back. I haven't been home for a month even though I live 30 minutes away. It's not like I don't have a lot of homework to do but it feels good to be home still. Last week was probably one of the most stressful periods in my life.

btw, my phone is dysfunctional(sp?) due to water damage (i'll explain later). So if you guys ever want to contact me (which I know all of you want to, right?) call my house. God forbid that you forgot my house number its (703)-204-0574. Have a great weekend and hope to see all of you at some point.

Halloween Weekend [Oct. 31st, 2006|12:47 pm]
I only got an hour sleep last night but I actually feel fine. A little shaky but good. Still not caught up with my work though.

Last weekend was great. Friday night I went to a club called Senso Sento(or Seso). It means Sixth Sense in Spanish. It was fun. I just wish they had more of a variety in music. 95% of the time was Spanish music. Then Saturday night we went to two costume parties. I was Lawrence of Arabia. I even had a sword so it was cool since I've been a vampire for the last 10 Halloweens. I'm trying to do as much work as I can now (I'm skipping Turkish for the second time consecutively. I already know the material anyways so I feel no regret) because we're going out tonight for Halloween. First we're going to get some free pizza from our floor party, watch Saw I, then go out. I rented Saw I and II for my friends since they never saw it. I hope they're ready for it. I hope everyone else is having fun and I'll see you all on Thanksgiving.

btw, I didn't get to see Kofi Annan.

Microeconomics [Oct. 25th, 2006|01:58 pm]
It sucks and I hate it. That's all I need to say.

Cool People [Oct. 19th, 2006|05:20 pm]
I was pretty upset that I signed up too late to see Bill Clinton. I'll have to make it up by seeing Kofi Annan next week.

This Saturday, I'm going to the Fright Fest at Six Flags (the one in Maryland) with the Pep Band so hopefully that will be fun.

Tonight, I'll find out my Microeconomics Midterm grade. I'm pretty nervous. 70% will definitely suffice for me. It's still a B since he curved it. I can only pray.

Studying [Oct. 17th, 2006|08:37 am]
Everything went wrong with how I was going to study for the Turkish Midterm. It was all because of this book I had to read for the class before it. The book was horrible. It was "To Perpetual Peace" by Immanuel Kant. I wish Immanuel Kant was ressurected so I can kill him again with my bare hands.

Homeward Bound [Oct. 13th, 2006|12:15 pm]
This is mainly for Joe and Loretta,

I just want to tell when I can be in NOVA this weekend:

Friday: Till 8pm but I think you guys (being Loretta and Kelly) are probably spending time with your parents, which is ok cause I have work to do. If you call me early enough today I'll come over.

Saturday: After 4pm (football game)

Sunday: The whole day

I told my parents that I wasn't coming home so let's not try to go to my home unless we REALLY don't have anything to do this goes for Loretta and her Super Smash Bros.)

Well, that's it. Can't wait to see the eyeballs probably tomorrow.

Today [Oct. 12th, 2006|03:59 am]
The midterm was ok. It could go either way. All I know is that it was the best I could've done so that fact makes me feel a little bit better.

I went to see the FCHS band rehearsal today. It was their last field rehearsal before their competition so I just wanted to see how they were doing. It was hard to tell with so many people not there. Musically, the brass and percussion were (I could hear the trombones perfectly and even some french horn). It was fun to see Ile on the bass especially in her all pink clothing when everyone else wore dark colors for the most part.

I forgot to mention how I was ambushed by everyone.

Afterwards, I ate at McDonalds with Megan and she told me about the band and her wild life. The stories she tells me about Mr. Davenport surprised me. He didn't seem the person to act in those kind of ways.

Now off to do my buttload of Turkish.

THE TEST [Oct. 11th, 2006|11:51 am]
I'm very nervous.  I don't think I've done enough.  It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't worth 25% of my grade.

Microeconomics Midterm [Oct. 11th, 2006|01:52 am]
Tomorrow I'm going to have my first college test.  It's my economics midterm and I'm pretty nervous about it.  I just came back from studying in the library for four hours.  I have never legitimately studied for a test in my life and to do that even surprised me.  Now I'm going to get my 8 hours of sleep, have my first class, do a quick hour and a half review, and then the test.  It's my last class so I might go back home for the day and see the FCHS band for their wednesday rehearsal since I won't be able to go to the game this Friday.  It's going to rain but I know the band will be out there if Mr. Davenport is a smart teacher.  Well good night, I will no go and dream about microeconomics.  God, I hate business stuff.......

My Planner [Oct. 10th, 2006|01:03 am]

I NEED MY PLANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I found my trashcan, which I somehow knew was in my roommate's friend's room.  They needed it to smuggle in some alcohol.  That's fine, I just wished they asked.  I feel like my roommate's friend has my planner as well since we can make jokes on each other.  He really says he doesn't have it but I can't bring myself to believe him.  I really hope he doesn't have it for his own sake.

(no subject) [Oct. 5th, 2006|05:36 pm]

I could not be in a bigger hole than I am in now.  First of all I screwed up body two nights ago by staying up till 6am (this was thanks to 2 White Chocolate Mochas from the lIbrary coffee shop) and woke up at 9:20am to get to my 8:50am class (yes, that means I got there late).  Since then trying to do any homework would be too hard because any place I sat or laid on I would literally pass out.  For an hour I basically did my homework standing, it was just getting that bad.  Somehow, I'm still on track but not for long if I don't work my ass off this weekend which will be hard since I'm going home.

In other news:

I forgot to tell you guys about the great people that came here over the past month to speak at my school.  Barack Obama was here.  Also the president of Afghanistan came here to get an honorary degree.  Bill Clinton comes and gives a speech at the university every 4 years so I'll see him sooner of later.  And best of all, last Sunday I saw my own prime minister speak.  He spoke in Turkish so all of my friends that we went, had to put on headphones that translated his speech.  It was really nice.  At times it was hard to understand him since he used a lot og big political terms that I might not even know in English, but overall it was a great experience.  And everyday I pass by our main gates there's some news station here or embassy worker.  This really is the best place for international relations.

I can't type anymore.  I'm shaking too much and I don't know why.  Is it because I can't get any sleep?  Or is it because that everytime I come into this room my roommate makes the place like an igloo?  He's not even here to feel the coldness.  Oh well, I'm leaving tonight hopefully.  I hope everything is going well for everyone else.

Unbelievable [Oct. 3rd, 2006|05:12 pm]
It's weird.  It's the afternoon and I don't have homework tomorrow. Something's wrong (Well maybe cause I'm a hundred pages behind in the reading for theology)  All we do is have a lot of discussions anyways but I'm still want to do the reading since it's about Buddhism.  But still, no stress for today (barah bah bah baaaaah I'm lovin' it)

Work Work Work [Sep. 28th, 2006|12:23 pm]
I have never had this much work to do in my life.  It's a sin for me to sleep at 2.  It just piles up.  The nice thing is that I am not alone.  All the people in my School of Foreign Service and Pre-Med are up all night every night as well.  WE all study in the common room and order pizza and Chinese food.  College is great like that.
